Political Checklist: Wisconsin Standoff, Spending Showdown and Chicago
In this week’s edition of the Political Checklist, Political Editor David Chalian and Senior Correspondent Gwen Ifill look at the political standoff in Wisconsin between newly-elected Republican Gov. Scott Walker and the state’s public sector labor unions. Gwen and David try to parse out who stands to win or lose now that the state-wide fight has become a national issue for the labor movement.
They also look at the prospect of a government shutdown if Congress does not come to an agreement on government spending before March 4.
And in Chicago, voters are heading to the polls as former White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel bids to become the Windy City’s next mayor.
