Complaining about Washington gridlock is as much an American pastime as baseball. Poll after poll regularly shows Americans are unhappy Congress.

Over the past two weeks PBS NewsHour has looked at governing in Washington from historical and cultural perspectives. On Thursday, Aug. 29, we took the conversation on Washington gridlock to Twitter. During our Twitter chat we discussed whether Washington is more divided than in the past, who is the most to blame for the gridlock, what it will take to break the gridlock and if Washington is capable of solving the challenges the country faces today.

See a transcript of the chat below and join us on Sept. 5, for a Twitter chat on education and paying for college.
