Twitter Chat: What does ‘support our troops’ mean to you?
As a nation we marked Veterans Day on Monday. And while we are a nation at war, it can be easy for many of us to push it out of our minds on a daily basis. One thing is for sure, it’s never far from the minds of our military personnel and their families.
“This year, our theme is Unite America with our Veterans,” the nonprofit organization Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America posted on its website. “We are asking for more than just a yellow ribbon, a handshake and a cursory ‘thank you.’”
In this week’s #NewsHourChats, we turn our attention to that idea. What does “support our troops,” really mean? What can be done on an individual, local, state and national level to support military members and their families? Should some type of service be required for all Americans? Join us at 1 p.m. EST, Thursday, Nov. 14, on Twitter for a discussion. You can join the conversation by following Twitter @NewsHour and using the #NewsHourChats or by watching below.
