35 Years After Vietnam War: The Path Back Home
NewsHour special correspondent Fred de Sam Lazaro recently reported from Vietnam on the stories of several Vietnamese-Americans, who returned to their country of birth, and what they found once they got there:
- Software entrepreneur Victor Luu was welcomed with tax breaks to move his California-based business to Vietnam;
- Nguyen Qui Duc, a journalist, encountered suspicion from authorities upon his return. He later opened a bar in Hanoi, which serves as a venue for music and book readings;
- And Diep Vuong started a foundation to educate women to make them less vulnerable to the sex trade in Southeast Asia.
