As key measures in the Affordable Care Act go into effect Jan. 1, Walgreens is jumping to grab any and all newly insured Americans as customers.
The drugstore and pharmacy chain announced Monday that they would provide a 30-day prescription supply at no upfront cost to Americans who may have had difficulty using their new insurance coverage.
Sixty-five percent of all Walgreens’ business derives from prescription sales. Forbes reports that the company’s CEO Greg Wasson said that Walgreens is expanding their health care services as more Americans have access to insurance because of the Affordable Care Act. And so are its competitors, CVS and Walmart.
