WSJ parent company buys social news agency Storyful

Social news agency Storyful was acquired Friday by News Corp – the organization that owns The Wall Street Journal – for $25 million.
Storyful, founded in 2011 and headquartered in Dublin, has been a leader in verifying user-generated video and photos and debunking bogus content.

The organization will keep working with their news clients. Chief executive officer and founder Mark Little and executive editor David Clinch will continue to oversee the company’s operations.

“Social journalism is no longer a problem for the news industry,” Little said in a statement. “It is a solution.”
