By the end of the Reform Party's nominating convention, the party had split into two factions. Each faction has declared its own nominee who claims to be the Reform party's official presidential candidate: Patrick J. Buchanan and John Hagelin.

The two sides will have to argue their case before the Federal Election Commission and in court.

Patrick "Pat" J. Buchanan, Reform Party Candidate

Pat Buchanan was born Nov. 2, 1938 in Washington D.C.

He received his master's degree in journalism from Columbia in 1962.

He has twice been a candidate for the Republican presidential nomination.

He has been columnist and has been involved with several talk shows including NBC's, 'The McLaughlin Group' and CNN's, 'Capital Gang' and 'Crossfire'.

John Hagelin, Reform Party Candidate

John Hagelin was born June 9, 1954 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He received his master's and doctorate from Harvard University in Quantum Physics and spent nearly 20 years as a research scientist.

He was the Natural Law Party Nominee for President in 1992 and 1996.

He is a follower of Indian guru Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. He is currently Director of the Institute of Science, Technology and Public Policy, and Professor of Physics and Director of the Doctoral Program in Physics at Maharishi University of Management.
