Health Bill Takes Shape in Senate Committee as Debate Continues

This week, the Senate Finance Committee took up its long-awaited health care reform bill. NewsHour health correspondent Betty Ann Bowser gives an update on the week's news from Capitol Hill.

The Senate Finance Committee began work on its version of health care reform this week with the start of an examination of more than 500 amendments to the proposed bill. Chairman Max Baucus of Montana faced his first rebellion from Democrats over a deal the White House had made with pharmaceutical manufacturers on costs this summer. The Senators also debated cuts to Medicare.
