U.S., Egypt Take Steps Toward Better Relations

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak met with President Barack Obama at the White House on Tuesday to discuss how to resolve issues in the Middle East, while seeking to broaden relations between each other's countries.

NewsHour foreign affairs reporter Robert Zeliger spoke to Steven Cook, senior fellow for Middle Eastern studies at the Council on Foreign Relations, about the meeting and the perspectives of both countries on advancing Egypt's democratic reforms and tackling the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.
