The Doubleheader: Bad Economic News, Anthony Weiner and the NBA Finals
In this edition of The Doubleheader, Political Editor David Chalian fills in for Hari Sreenivasan and talks with Mark Shields and David Brooks about a big poll number that drove the week’s political news: the Washington Post/ABC survey that showed the country in a pessimistic mood and not happy about President Obama’s handling of the economy.
They also look into the possibility of some golf course diplomacy when President Obama hits the links with House Speaker John Boehner, Vice President Biden and Gov. John Kasich, R-Ohio.
They also touched on the ongoing online photo and sex chat scandal swirling around Rep. Anthony Weiner, who has resisted calls for his resignation. Shields said it showed that no one felt shame in Washington, while Brooks pointed out that Weiner’s role as cable news pitbull for the Democrats was likely over.
Shields and Brooks finish by showing their wide array of basketball knowledge as they look at the highs and lows of the ongoing NBA Finals.
