After an epic presidential race and a campaign destined to help redefine American politics, Sen. Barack Obama was projected by major news networks to be the winner of the 2008 presidential race Tuesday, making him the country's first African-American leader.
In a concession speech, GOP rival John McCain congratulated Obama, saying "the American people have spoken."

A group of immigrant volunteers, many undocumented, have joined CHIRLA (the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles) in a get-out-the-vote campaign in the San Fernando Valley.
Part of a larger state-wide initiative in California called "Mobilize the Immigrant Vote," they aim to register new citizens and allow undocumented immigrants a voice in this year's election. Xochitl Dorsey of the National Minority Consortia reports.
