Richardson Promotes Latino Roots, Environmental Record
Email This
This week, New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson emphasized his Latino roots at each campaign stop, from heavily Latino California to not-so-Latino New Hampshire, even announcing endorsements from New Hampshire Latino leaders on Wednesday. At an appearance in Sacramento, Calif., on Tuesday, Richardson addressed the Univision network camera in Spanish, saying, “I ask you not to vote for me because I’m Latino but because I have the best program for the United States.”
Richardson also began airing an ad this week focusing on his environmental record in New Mexico, aiming for the same humorous tone as his initial breakout ads.
A recent CNN/USA Today poll showed Richardson has moved into double digits in New Hampshire, garnering 10 percent among Democratic presidential candidates, up six points from April. He planned to fund raise in Minneapolis Friday and New York on Monday and Tuesday, and speak at the Take Back America conference in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday morning.
