Firefighters Union to Endorse Dodd

Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Christopher Dodd of Connecticut will get the endorsement of the International Association of Fire Fighters Wednesday in Washington, Dodd’s campaign announced Tuesday.
IAFF General President Harold Schaitberger settled on Dodd because he “is the candidate that offers the proven leadership they [union members] trust to keep America Safe and keep middle class families secure,” the campaign release said.
Dodd and Schaitberger will then campaign together for three days through three important primary states: Iowa, New Hampshire and Nevada.
The campaign release also quoted former President Clinton adviser Paul Begala, who said the IAFF’s endorsement of John Kerry helped him win the party’s nomination in 2004. “Kerry wouldn’t be the presumptive nominee without the firefighters,” Begala told U.S. News and World Report in March 2004.
The association also was the one that earlier released a video criticizing former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
