On Sunday, with less than a week before the Ames straw poll, Sen. Sam Brownback, R-Kan., went on the offensive during ABC’s presidential debate, particularly against the poll favorite: former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.
Brownback didn’t let the issue drop. The next day, his campaign released this video on YouTube:
Romney went back to ABC to talk to George Stephanopoulos, saying, “Sam Brownback is a sweet guy, but he’s obviously in a pretty desperate situation at this point. I am pro-life.”
For the Brownback campaign, it is a dramatic buildup to Saturday’s straw poll, which, again depending on what one read, is a ‘crucial test’ or ‘a last stand’ but ‘not a make or break moment’. In any case, Brownback supporters will be ‘praying’ or doing ‘motherly’ things, but for Brownback’s sake most had better be voting.
