Paul Called Out for Iraq Stance
Email This

Texas Rep. Ron Paul got into a heated exchange over Iraq with fellow Republican candidate former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee at Wednesday night’s Republican debate aired on Fox News.

The two debated whether the United States should leave Iraq or stay.

Paul is the only Republican candidate who says the United States should immediately withdraw from Iraq. Huckabee argued that the United States should stay because it is the nation’s responsibility to fix a country it “broke,” echoing former Secretary State Colin Powell’s “Pottery Barn” rule.

In response, Paul said the United States was led into the war by a group of neoconservative presidential advisers and it was the next president’s responsibility to rectify the mistake, instead of trying to “save face” by staying in Iraq. Paul got cheers and boos for his remarks.

When Fox News anchor Chris Wallace asked Paul if he thought the United States should take “marching orders” from al-Qaida, Paul said the marching orders should come from the U.S. Constitution.

The exchange generated media coverage for Paul, who usually gets media attention for his notable Internet support.

Ron Paul is the only candidate who can save this country, restore freedom and bring back the U.S. Constitution!

Ron Paul makes sense in a sea of liars and cheats. The mainstream media portrayal of him is so spun that I would like to hear others being treated in the same way. FOr instance Guliani being asked about why he cross dresses and has 6 failed marriages.Seems stability and commitment is non existent in his world.
