Richardson Says Iowa Status Comes from on High, Really High
Email This
New Mexico Democratic Gov. Bill Richardson told a Northwest Iowa Labor Council Picnic in Sioux City, Iowa, Monday that a higher power dictates that Iowa should come first in the presidential nomination process.
“Iowa, for good reason, for constitutional reasons, for reasons related to the Lord, should be the first caucus and primary,” Richardson said, according to the Des Moines Register. “And I want you to know who was the first candidate to sign a pledge not to campaign anywhere if they got ahead of Iowa. It was Bill Richardson.”
He responded to questions about the comment later, saying he was just making an off-the-cuff remark.
