Kucinich Jabs Rivals on Climate Change, Haircuts
Email This
This summer, Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio, publicly voiced his criticisms of Democratic front-runners Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., and former Sen. John Edwards, D-N.C., when he felt they were excluding him from public debate.
On Saturday, the congressman will get the opportunity to face off with his two rivals in a forum on one of his most important passions: climate change. Earlier this week, Kucinich introduced his plan for climate change, citing “his vegan lifestyle, small home and fuel-efficient Ford Focus as evidence of his concern for the environment,” CBS News reported. “The congressman also asked the audience to imagine a president not tied to interest groups or carbon-based energy lobbyists in any way, shape or form.”
In an attack on Edwards, Kucinich criticized the former senator for approving an expansion of trade with China seven years ago, thus opening the door to the recent rash of hazardous toys and products being imported from that country.
“Senator Edwards knew seven years ago that people would be hurt, so why did he vote for China trade?” Kucinich asked, according to Newsandpolicy.com.
In a more aesthetic jab, Kucinich joined Republican candidate Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., in getting a $400 haircut — with all proceeds going toward autism research.
Kucinich will spend his Thanksgiving holiday campaigning in New Hampshire, and enjoying a recent endorsement from adult-magazine tycoon Larry Flint.
