Edwards Seeks to Bump Off Clinton, Then Take on Obama
Email This

Despite finishing second place in the Iowa caucus, former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards is still fighting to break into what has been set up as the national Clinton vs. Obama battle for the nomination.

But with Sen. Hillary Clinton’s momentum slowing and doubts raised about how she will show in Tuesday’s primary, New Hampshire could bring Edwards the kick to the front he needs.

The campaign’s fight to show Edwards should be considered among top two was reiterated by actor Tim Robbins, who, along with Susan Sarandon, campaigned for Edwards on Monday.

“After John Edwards comes in second in Iowa, we’re still being told it’s a two-person race,” Robbins told the crowd. “We’re the voters, we decide who the front-runner is.”

And, while Clinton’s campaign seemed at a loss for how to combat Sen. Barack Obama’s mantra of change, Edwards has positioned himself as a kindred spirit to the reigning top candidate.

“The one thing I do not argue with him about is that he believes deeply in change. … I believe deeply in change,” Edwards said about Obama at the ABC forum on Saturday.

When asked about the team-up by George Stephanopoulos, Edwards said. “I think there is a conviction alliance. First of all, I wouldn’t go so far as to call it an alliance.”

Clinton herself is lumping the two together, saying they do have something in common—they’ve gotten off easy in this race.

“You know for both Sen. Edwards and Obama, they’ve been given pretty much a free ride and that’s fine,” Clinton said in an interview with Diane Sawyer on Monday. “I don’t mind having to get up there and take all the scrutiny.

Obama has been given so much leeway. Well if the press wont scrutinize his shady life, I will: Heres what a commentator said: Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Barack Hussein Obama, Sr., a black MUSLIM from Nyangoma-Kogel, Kenya and Ann Dunham, a white ATHEIST from Wichita, Kansas. Obama's parents met at the University of Hawaii. When Obama was two years old, his parents divorced. His father returned to Kenya. His mother then married Lolo Soetoro, a RADICAL Muslim from Indonesia. When Obama was 6 years old, the family relocate to Indonesia. Obama attended a MUSLIM school in Jakarta. He also spent two years in a Catholic school. Obama takes great care to conceal the fact that he is a Muslim. He is quick to point out that, "He was once a Muslim, but that he also attended Catholic Lolo Soetoro, the second husband of Obama's mother, Ann Dunham, introduced his stepson to Islam. Obama was enrolled in a Wahabi school in Jakarta. Wahabism is the RADICAL teaching that is followed by the Muslim > terrorists who are now waging Jihad against the western world. Since it is politically expedient, Barack Hussein Obama has joined the United > Church of Christ in an attempt to downplay his Muslim background. ALSO, > keep in mind that when he was sworn into office he DID NOT use the Holy Bible, but instead the Koran. Heres what another inquirer said: Isn't it odd that Muslim leaders around the world are saying nothing about Barack Obama? If Obama was once a Muslim but now a Christian they would be calling for removal of his head; as no one can leave the muslim religion. Since the media has never asked Obama his real religion, if he is indeed still a Muslim, you have to conclude that with the silence of Muslim leaders about his candidancy that he is still a Muslim. Could this be why Obama is not on the Michigan Primary ballot? The largest group of Muslims in the United States are in Dearborn, Michigan. Obama side-stepped Michigan because a huge Muslim turnout for Obama would not look right. Is Obama still a Muslim? Why is the media afraid to ask? The media has been all over Mitt Romney about being a Morman but they will not ask Obama if he is still a Muslim.

Yes, Hillary Clinton is bashed, condemned and put down all day; and at every turn. But nothing that Obama says is scrutinized, he's treated as God; everything he says is PERFECT. Everything he's done is also implied as perfect for his nomination. Yes, like Bush was treated by the media, yup, we're logically headed for a repeat of Bush's matter.

This country is secular. Stop bashing religion. It's a personal choice and has nothing to do with patriotism and love for America. I continue to hope that intolerant people like you don't vote or run for office. You just don't respect personal freedom.

I'd just like to say that Asuccess's comment is completely unwarranted. there is nothing to suggest that Obamas parents were not Christians or that "ATHIESTS" and "MUSLIMS" would be worse presidents than elitists like you apparently are.

Oooh, a black MUSLIM, and a white ATHEIST?! Not one boogey-men, but two!

"Since the media has never asked Obama his real religion, if he is indeed still a Muslim, you have to conclude that with the silence of Muslim leaders about his candidancy that he is still a Muslim."

Why are you posting here? Don't you have some crosses to burn, or some sheets to wash, or something? These questions have been asked over, and over, and over again. Just because you don't get CNN or even FOX in your trailer home doesn't mean that the media hasn't asked the questions.
