Kucinich to Drop Out of Democratic Race, Newspaper Reports
Email This

Congressman Dennis Kucinich said Thursday afternoon that he is dropping out of the race for the Democratic presidential nomination, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported.

Explaining that he wants “to continue to serve in Congress,” Kucinich told the newspaper he would make a formal announcement on Friday and that he will not endorse another Democratic candidate.

Some have speculated that Kucinich fears losing his congressional seat amid a stiff challenge from fellow Ohio Democrats.

“I’m running for re-election to the United States Congress and I need your help to make sure that I stay in Congress,” Kucinich said, according to The Hill.

Meanwhile, a New Hampshire Democratic primary recount finished on Wednesday after 40 percent of it was funded by Kucinich’s campaign.

According to Daily Kos, no appreciable difference was found between the actual count and the official tally, with Sen. Hillary Clinton of New York losing 25 votes to finish at 48,940 and Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois dropping 7 votes down to 38,408.

Sorry to hear this. He ranks high for most Democrats when you look at the issues blind... but I guess the media ignores him.

It really is a shame he was never given any credibility by the powers that be, especially Westinghouse, manufacturer of all things nuclear, that owns CBS and refused to let him debate.

And of course "journalists" just wanted to know if he had seen an UFO, not how he would gut the festering corporatocracy that passes for democracy, or about the need to have impeachment hearings.

Let's not forget him, I'm sure the DNC would love to see the back of him, so we need to continue giving him our support to make sure his voice is still heard in Congress.

P.S. Even the Newshour doesn't dare mention the "I" word, even when bills of impeachment are introduced into Congress. Why is that???

Why is it that more news time is made of Kucinich's dropping out, than was accorded him during his candidacy? Is there any news agency in existance that is more interested in providing substance than fluff? It's still the same old story as in the lead-up to Iraq invasion.

Now about Dennis the Menace............

proof positive that you can run for president for the sole purpose of getting laid. if you can get people to contribute then you can get chicks with other people's money. get your money for nothing and your chicks for free

Well, this news sucks...
Is Gravel still in the race?
Him and Kucinich were my only
two picks. Hillary is a bitch
and she just pretends to be
on the side of gay rights.

Looks like you will have to vote for Ron Paul....
I know Kucinich would. He would even take him as a running mate- watch this:

I agree with Robodok. Why didn't he get more recognition? America needs
someone like him right now.
