Paul Snubbed by Fox After Fifth-Place Iowa Finish
Email This

After placing three percentage points behind former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson and Sen. John McCain in last week’s Iowa caucuses, Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, like other presidential candidates, is focused on a strong showing in Tuesday’s New Hampshire primary.

Like McCain, who has surged to the front of the race in the independent-minded, secular state, Paul is looking to make an impression.

While McCain and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney spar for first in the state, Paul is polling fifth behind former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, according to an average of several polls.

Unfortunately for Paul, who has fought to shake his long-shot status since the start of the campaign, he was shunned by Fox News, which did not invite him or Congressman Duncan Hunter to participate in a presidential forum on Sunday evening.

The Paul campaign held a town hall meeting at a local TV studio instead.

Angry Paul supporters crowded a Manchester, N.H., intersection brandishing Paul signs and chanting “Fox News sucks,” the Manchester Union Leader reported.

Paul did get to participate in the Facebook/ABC/WMUR Republican debate on Saturday, although the field’s attacks on Romney during the debate dominated reports of the event.

For the first time in my life, there is a candidate for President that radiates integrity. Call me a throwback, but the citizens were much better off when left to their own devices. Self-reliance has been replaced with laziness and the reassurance that Uncle Sam will take care of you. This has become so at the nation's peril. The media will continue its effort to make Ron Paul appear as a quack. However, young adults realize the severity of the situation we and our children are inheriting. Whether or not Ron Paul wins, he has already claimed victory over the apathy that our government has manufactured and instilled in much of the public.

I don't think the media should be allowed to exclude specific members of a party. Paul has not been a strong candidate and is not a likely winner but the media should definitely not have that kind of discretion with our presidential candidates.
