McCain Projected to Win Washington State -- Again
Email This
After easily winning the Wisconsin primary, Arizona Sen. John McCain was projected as the GOP winner in Washington state for a second time in two weeks.
The Evergreen State is the only one in which Republicans use both a primary and caucuses to divvy up delegates to candidates.
The Associated Press and other news organizations projected McCain as the winner late Tuesday night. With half of Washington’s precincts counted, McCain had more than twice the votes of former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee. McCain also narrowly won the state’s GOP caucuses on Feb. 9. The results were later challenged by Huckabee.
Also late Tuesday, the AP reported that McCain raised nearly $12 million in January. According to filings with the Federal Election Commission late Tuesday, McCain had $5.2 million cash on hand at the start of February and $5.5 million in debts, including a loan of nearly $4 million.
January marked a turnaround for McCain, whose presidential campaign had once been considered to be faltering. His fundraising also sealed his decision to not accept public financing during the primary.

I would love to see a running total of all votes to date in both individual primary and national total. It would be helpfull if this included all candidates regardless of party affiliation so that we can get a true feel of public support for each.
