McCain Ad Takes a Quick Hit on Obama-Biden Ticket

By Maureen Hoch on August 23, 2008

After the late-night suspense over the identity of Sen. Barack Obama’s running mate was broken, GOP Sen. John McCain’s campaign wasted no time taking the Obama-Biden ticket to task.

Sen. Joe Biden and Sen. Barack Obama

By Saturday morning, the McCain team had a new video ad up on its Web site entitled “Biden” that shows the Delaware senator criticizing Obama’s lack of experience during an August 2007 Democratic primary debate and praising McCain’s credentials in a clip from Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show.”

McCain spokesman Ben Porritt also issued a statement in the hours immediately after news of the Biden pick emerged:

“There has been no harsher critic of Barack Obama’s lack of experience than Joe Biden. Biden has denounced Barack Obama’s poor foreign policy judgment and has strongly argued in his own words what Americans are quickly realizing — that Barack Obama is not ready to be President,” the statement read.

McCain and Biden are long-time Senate colleagues — with ties that run deep enough that McCain called Biden on Saturday to congratulate his advance to the ticket.

Of the phone call, McCain campaign spokesman Tucker Bounds said: “It was a brief conversation. They’ve known each other for years.”

KEL : Although I wrote to Mr. Barack Obama at the start of his campaign - to insist that he resist using Race in his campaign - I have since learned of his 20-year passion for Muslim based ethics, and will no longer support such a candidate. He himself has written books that contain statements that are detestable to the human race. As the world progresses and cultures advance, I find that we (in the U.S.) have opened a hornet's nest in the mideast and neighboring nations. They truly are KILLERS of all things decent, including scores of human beings. I cannot support nor defend anyone who has studied and practiced in such a culture. And I will not stand by and watch as one of the practicioners of such a culture stages himself to take over the presidency of the United States.

EDP : RE: KEL You are a fool that has been tricked by lies. Obama is NOT Muslim. Further, not all Muslims are murders. People like you give Americans a bad name all across the world. Shame on your ignorance!

Sponge Bob : Obama has no plan. What is going to 'change'? He went to the same church for 20 plus years listening to the man who states "God damn America". During an August 2007 debate his now-running mate stated that "Obama is not ready to be President". 12 months made Obama ready? What fools people are to think a man that has no military bearing or knowledge can run the best country in the world. He wants to 'talk things over' with Iran and Cuba? These people want to kill us- plain and simple. Read the facts and realize that he is not the best candidate. I agree (23 years and still proudly serving the US Air Force) that the killers overseas need to be handled correctly but 'talk' is not going to work.
