HASTINGS WYMAN, JR.

FOUNDER, "SOUTHERN POLITICAL REPORT"

Hastings Wyman, Jr. was born in Aiken, South Carolina, and attended public schools in Aiken and in Camden, South Carolina. He graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College, where he majored in American Government.

After graduating from the University of South Carolina Law School, Wyman practiced law in Aiken, where he was elected chairman of the county Republican Party. He later worked as field representative in the southern states for the Republican National Committee.

Wyman later served on the staff of Senator Strom Thurmond and as a Special Assistant to the Secretary of Commerce Frederick E. Dent.

In 1978, Wyman started Southern Political Report, a bi-weekly newsletter covering the politics and politicians of 12 southern states.

Wyman has published articles in the Wall Street Journal, Roll Call, The American Spectator and other publications. He appears frequently on television and radio, including CNN, ABC News, CBS "This Morning" and National Public Radio. He has served as an election night commentator for C-SPAN and as a consultant for ABC’s "Super Tuesday" coverage.
