Scott Roeder Convicted: What's Next for Abortion Providers?

On January 29, a jury in Witchita found confessed killer Scott Roeder guilty of first-degree murder in the shooting death of Kansas abortion provider Dr. George Tiller.

Abortion opponents, who had tried for decades to disrupt Dr. Tiller’s practice, have turned much of their attention to his colleague, Dr. Leroy Carhart. Dr. Carhart vowed to carry on Tiller's mission in Nebraska and hired two people who had worked at Dr. Tiller’s clinic. In the NOW on PBS report "Abortion Providers Under Siege," Dr. Carhart spoke to NOW’s Maria Hinojosa about what it's like for him and his family to live as "targets."

“Do I think that I could be shot tonight talking? I know that's a possibility. But am I scared? I don't allow myself that feeling." Carhart told NOW. "I think that this is my mission, and this is what I have to do.”

On February 5, 2010, NOW will examine how the growing number of pro-life politicians in the Democratic Party could affect a woman's right to choose.

This is the Age of the stupidity I will no be surprise if abortion will be Ilegal again.

How long is it going to be before we recognize that these Right to Life terrorists, ARE terrorists?
In this country 80 percent of the counties in each state have no providers, and the ones that are there are under constant threat of death or mamiming.
Yet these same people are appalled that women in other countries suffer acid attacks and beatings for disobeying Islamic beliefs.
I have known the heartbreak of a family when their beautiful 16 year old daughter died from a self induced abortion because it was still illegal then.
When are we going to waterboard Scott Roeder to find out who he was working with to attempt to terrorize women into making the choice HE likes.

I just tried to find a listing of abortion clinics in the Michigan website. I could find all sorts of offers for abstinence counselling and other misleading sounding organizations but no list anywhere of abortion clinis. Have we been asleep while all of these obstacles have been put in the way of women and girls. And why would the police not clear the area around such clinics so some unfortunate young girl doesn't have to walk the gauntlet to get help.

Whether Dr. Carhart will ever be shot, nobody knows - unless there are persons in possession of reliable crystal balls, of course, who are prepared to share their special insights regarding future events. What we do know for sure, however, is that while the good doctor is wondering whether he will ever be targeted by some deranged person, thousands - nay, tens of thousands - of unborn will definitely be eliminated.

Fascinating take on this, being a pilot I'm usually keen to learn more about aviation.
