TO ENTER the Contest, fill in the information on the NOW website including your proposed caption and your name, age, email address, and state of residence. (When you enter, you will also be invited to receive the NOW weekly newsletter, but you can opt-out if you wish.). We will post eligible captions entries on the NOW website. Your name and email address will only be used to notify you if you've won and to send you the NOW newsletter (unless and until you opt-out), except that your name and state of residence will be used to identify you as the source of the caption when it's posted on our website. Each Contestant must comply with the "Eligibility" rules below. A new contest begins on or close to the first weekday of each calendar month and the deadline for all entries for each contest is midnight of the last day of that month. Winners are announced at the NOW website on the following month. LIMIT: One entry per person and one entry per website address. Incomplete or illegible entries, and entries that are late, lost, garbled, or misdirected or misrouted for any reason, or lacking complete information, will not be honored. NOW is not responsible for late, lost, garbled, misdirected, misrouted incomplete, or incorrect entries. NOW reserves the right to disqualify any person who violates these Official Rules; and to cancel, modify or terminate any contest that is not capable of completion for any reason, including without limitation, technical failures and events beyond NOW's control; and to terminate the contest program in its entirety at any time.

JUDGING: Each caption will be judged on the following point scale: (a) Humor (1-50 points); (b) Originality/Creativity (1-50 points); totaling a maximum of 100 points. Entries that are not appropriate to the subject matter, in the sole opinion of NOW editorial staff members, will be disqualified. The Contestant whose caption earns the highest overall score in the opinion of the judges will win. In the event of a tie, the winner will be selected based on the Humor criterion. The caption must be original and written by the submitting Contestant(s), and must not have been entered in any other competition or violate the rights of other parties. Captions may not be offensive, obscene, defamatory; or violative of third party rights. Winner selection for each contest will be conducted by NOW editorial staff members, whose decision is final and binding.

WHAT THE WINNER WINS: The winning caption and its accompanying cartoon will be posted at the NOW website, and in NOW's discretion, in its archive as well, along with the name and state of residence of the winner. The winner will be entitled to choose a NOW DVD from a list of available titles (the approximate retail value is $19.99.) Prize(s) are not transferable. Taxes (if any) are the sole responsibility of each winner. NOW reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value due to prize unavailability. NOW shall have all rights to copy, edit, broadcast, publish and use, in whole or in part, any caption or other copyrightable materials, in any manner without further compensation to any Contestant (except where prohibited by law). Prize winner(s) will be notified by email and will be required to execute an Affidavit and Publicity/Liability Release within five (5) days of the date notice is sent, or the prize will be forfeited. If the prize, prize notification or attempted notification is returned undeliverable, the prize will be forfeited and may be awarded to an alternate winner in the discretion of NOW. Unclaimed prizes may not be awarded. Winners must wait six months from the month in which their winning entry was submitted before they are eligible to win again. NOW anticipates approximately 100 eligible contestants per Contest, and will post at the NOW website the actual number of qualified, eligible contestants for each Contest.

ELIGIBILITY: The Contest is open only to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Coumbia, 18 years of age or older as of the date of submission of a caption. The Contest is open to amateurs only; professional cartoonists and caption-writers are not eligible. All employees of NOW, its parent, affiliates and subsidiaries, and the immediate families and household members of each, are not eligible to win. By submitting an entry, Contestant agrees to be bound by these Official Rules. Entry constitutes permission to use winners' names and likenesses for editorial advertising and publicity purposes without further compensation (except where prohibited by law). NOW and their promotional and advertising agencies shall have no liability and shall be released and held harmless by Contestant(s) for any damage, loss or liability to person or property, due in whole or part, directly or indirectly, by reason of the acceptance, possession, use or misuse of any prize or participation. Offer void where prohibited and subject to federal, state and local laws.
