+ Obama Watch Question Archive - Obama Watch Question Archive
Do you think Congress will pass Obama's health reform bill? Do you think Obama's health reform summit will lead to a bipartisan reform bill? Do you think the federal stimulus has significantly helped the economy over the past year? What was your reaction to Obama's State of the Union speech? Do you think Obama has been devoting enough attention to environmental issues? What should Obama's Afghanistan troop strategy be? Are you concerned the U.S. is becoming too involved in military operations in Pakistan? Did Obama deserve to win the Nobel Peace Prize? Do you think Obama should send more troops to Afghanistan? Twinkies? Soda? Cigarettes? What items would you pay higher taxes on to ensure health care for all? Do you agree with Obama's decision to continue the practice of sending terrorism suspects to third countries for detention and interrogation? Should President Obama be tackling both the economy and health care at the same time? Some gay rights activists say Obama is not taking their concerns seriously enough. Are they right? How should Obama prioritize the battles he takes to Congress? Will Obama's speech in Egypt improve America's image in the Muslim world? Who should Obama nominate as the next Supreme Court justice and why? Has the press been too lenient on Obama in his first 100 days? What do you think of Obama's performance on his debut trip abroad as president? Do you think Obama's budget plan is too ambitious? How do you think Obama has done in his first 50 days in office? Do you blame Obama for not living up to his no-earmark pledge?

Commenter: Richard Hajinlian
I believe he did what was politically necessary for the greater good since earmarks are only 2 percent of the budget.

Hopefully in the future he will elimate earmarks.

I am an Afro-American Union Pipefitter of Chicago Pipefitters' L.U. #597. I have a horor story that no one on earth will believe. I watched the now presentation regarding Prop. 209, and the related issues. I have documentation that anyone who believes we live in a "colorblind" society live on one of the moons of Saturn. A small group of afro-American Pipefitters sent, then Senator Obama letters, phone calls, e-mails, fax's, and photos of a protest in front of our union hall. To date he does not seem to care. The Chicago District office of the EEOC has been "investigating" our complaint come this may 4, for 5 years.
Director Rowe, Investigator Pereles, and now Chairman Ishimaru, refuse to give us an "true and accurate" status update. Excuse my French but transperant my as_. Our records have been lost. Our situation is so bad that President George Bush had to inquire into this matter.
Soon I will be compelled to begin to send the hiring documents that we obtained from the NLRB, to any and all who live on Titan, so their will be no doubt why the young strong men stand on street corners. If you want a show, I documentation to prove what I say is true.

B.O. HAS BEEN TESTED AND FAILED ON ALL FRONTS

BARACK OBAMA HAS NOW ISSUED 17 EXECUTIVE ORDERS. HE ORDERED GITMO CLOSED. HE ORDERED THE MILITARY TO GO SOFT ON TERRORISTS IN INTERROGATIONS. HE ORDERED THAT THERE BE A WHITE HOUSE OFFICE OF URBAN AFFAIRS. AND TODAY HE ORDERED FEDERALLY FUNDED STEM CELL RESEARCH. AND WHAT HAS COME OUT OF ALL THESE ORDERS? DISORDER. THE STOCK MARKETS ARE DROPPING LOWER EVERY DAY. THE TALIBAN IS WINNING IN AFGHANISTAN. IRAN IS GETTING CLOSER EVERY DAY TO MAKING A NUCLEAR BOMB. OBAMA ADMINISTRATION ALLIES ARE GIVEN HUGE AMOUNTS OF MONEY BY THE PORKULUS BILL WHILE AMERICANS ARE BEING KICKED OUT OF THEIR HOMES. NORTH KOREA IS THREATENING THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. BARACK OBAMA HAS BEEN TESTED AND HAS FAILED ON ALL FRONTS.

STRANGE STORIES ARE BEGINNING TO COME OUT OF THE MEDIA ABOUT OBAMA. THE MEDIA SAYS THAT HIS HAIR IS TURNING GRAY. HE IS RUMORED TO BE “OVERWHELMED” BY THE STATE OF THE ECONOMY, AND HASN’T FOUND TIME TO HIRE FOR THE TOP POSITIONS IN THE TREASURY DEPARTMENT. THIS MAN IS A COLLEGE PROFESSOR. HE IS CLEARLY NOT PRESIDENTIAL MATERIAL. GEORGE W. BUSH CREATED AN ENVIRONMENT IN WHICH SO MANY PEOPLE FELT BETRAYED THAT MOST AMERICANS WERE WILLING TO VOTE FOR ANYONE WHO DIDN’T REPRESENT A CONTINUATION OF HIS POLICIES. BUT AMERICA DIDN’T VOTE FOR KARL MARX.

EVEN AN EFFECTIVE MARXIST WOULD BE BETTER THAN THIS. EVEN THOUGH HE ENDED UP IMPOSING A FORM OF SOCIALISM ON THE U.S., FDR AT LEAST VIGOROUSLY PURSUED THE ENEMIES OF THE NATION. HE FOUGHT AGAINST APPEASERS AND ISOLATIONISTS WHO TRIED TO KEEP US FROM HELPING THE ENEMIES OF TYRANNY AND EVENTUALLY JOINING THEIR SIDE IN THE FIGHT. AT LEAST FDR HAD EXECUTIVE EXPERIENCE AS GOVERNOR OF NEW YORK. OBAMA HAS HAD NO REAL EXPERIENCE OUTSIDE OF A CLASSROOM. AND THAT INEXPERIENCE IS BEGINNING TO TAKE ITS TOLL.

I have watched both Democrats and Republican actions over 8 years and one person got my attention. Out of that crowd one person was loud, clear and not afraid to speak out. That person is Obama. When he spoke to the Senate. He was speaking my langauge! I was astounded here is a man that knew what we were going through. We had a voice in the Senate.

I can understand his passion of moving forward to equalize our economy, bringing or bettering the health care for all across board from infants to military soldier.

This man who has never waivered, never miss step in his actions as a Senator and now as a President. He is different from the rest of the politicians.

He walks the talks which we have been walking the talk for such a long time, we were never heard under both Bush's Administration.

I will support this man because I believe in what he can do from where is he sits!

Commenter: Cynthia Bauman
I believe he felt he couldn't waste time on last year's budget.

Commenter: William Jones
We need to keep asking, we need to keep his feet to the fire!

Realizing that before day 100 the President is dealing with hangover from the previous administration, but when day 100 comes, no matter what went on before, it is all his baby, and if he gets his programs on line during the first 100 days as he seems to be doing, then no matter the hangover everything should work out for the best.

Commenter: Gary
President Obama is doing a wonderful job; he is brilliant and talented. He has put together a great team that he listens to. He expects the highest level of performance and sets a standard that will produce success. Already he has put the critical pieces in place, health care, energy policy, investment in education and science, an initial plan to fix the economy, positive gesture to the rest of the world, winding down Iraq, addressing the Israeli - Palestinian crisis and this is only in the first four weeks. He has committed to the environment and the climate crisis. He has allowed stem cell research which holds the promise of medical developments and new industries that will develop out of it's advances. So far he has been nothing less than Great.

Commenter: Mitchell Briley
Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

Democrats for Ron Paul in 2012!

Commenter: John
Please advise why you promise an open and transparent administration then rush thru a 1,000 page bill with no time for review or comments???

Commenter: Dwayne Chastain
Obama's policies are destroying the vary fabric of this country and he has not kept any of his promises. Massive debt and destruction of private enterprises is anti-American.

Commenter: mark meunier
It seems that Obamas every word is being examined under the presses microscope , where as the last administration started a war , destroyed the economy etc etc and the same press was mostly silent!
Whats the point of tracking every promise at this early date in his administration?

Commenter: Vicki Argie
I don't think throwing money at banks or corporations is a good idea. Bush did this and see what happened--more bad stuff! Why can't we let the chips fall where they may? Now, for things like education and health care, and especially for environmental jobs, I'm all for creating jobs and support a reasonable price tag to that end.

Obviously, this problem is complex. Two things are clear: it is feeding on itself and the media is fanning the flames.

where does Obama get his knowledge about wolves and their being off the endangered list;
has he ever served in the military

Commenter: Peter Theis
Do I "blame" Obama for not living up to his no-earmark pledge?

Hmmm... depends on what is really going on here. The question right now in everyone's mind is, perhaps, something like this:

"Is Obama the real deal, trying to do
his best to wade through centuries of
bad selfish thinking, and thus has to
make a few compromises along the way
to actually get some good things done?
Or... his he just another mask on the
same monster of big mafia-style bankers
who run almost everything through a
shadow government?"

As President Franklin Delano Roosevelt once said:

“The real truth of the matter is, as
you and I know, that a financial element
in the larger centers has owned the
Government ever since the days of
Andrew Jackson.”

Why don't we ever talk about how the Federal Reserve is privately owned?

Why don't we ever talk about making these rich bankers and Wall Street folk (who lapped up enormous profits by creating this crisis) pay for this crisis? Why should average folk have to suffer, yet again?

People talk about "Spreading the Wealth" as if this is something that isn't done all the time.

People forget about ideas such as "Problem, Reaction, Solution," or are unaware of concepts like "The Shock Doctrine."

How many of us have read 1984 by George Orwell and studied the art of propaganda in detail?

Where is Habeus Corpus?

Since when is the USA called the "Homeland"?

Will Obama force the car companies to convert to green cars and mass transit manufacturers?

Will he reinstate Glass-Steagall?

Right now, much of what Obama has done, in my opinion, looks pretty good. I'm leaning toward him being the real deal. But I also want to see the industrial military complex converted into something more positive and healthy like infrastructure builders, and to have true environmental abundance (chemical free), and and and... a thousand other things.

So, I could go on. We all can go on. And we SHOULD. Hopefully we will. It is not only Obama, who is important, but it's also US. What do WE do? How vocal and active are we?

How much are WE the real deal? And how much are we so stuck in the putrid mire of a lifetime of brainwashing that we are simply playing our part in the puppetry, unaware?

So... Obama? The real deal, or just another mask on the same old tired monster?

Only time will tell. Let us be vigilant, honest, and focused on doing good.

Your report tonight, I'm sure, will be extremely helpful, insightful, and beautifully done, as always.

Keep up the great work!

Peace,

Peter
