Comment: They obviously *did* mislead Pat Tillman's family, and since no independent oversight has been put in place, they obviously could still be misleading others about the deaths of their fallen soldiers. This culture of coverups has got to stop, because Americans will not fight for a country that disrespects its soldiers so much that it can't even tell the truth about how they died.

Comment: Hopefully, not becuase they were family members before they were soldiers and their family has the right to know how they died. I will go with no though.

Comment: Since there have been examples of the Army doing this to the families, THE FAMILIES, of fallen soldiers I believe they have deliberately misled (aka lied). If they haven't misled then the Army is incompetant when it comes to investigating why a soldier has died. It's either one, the other, or both. How wide spread these occurances are is another question. Peace is the answer!

Comment: Of course. Look no further then the horrendous lies and cover-up regarding Pat Tillman. It's disgusting that not following their own rules, blatant incompetence, killed Ranger Tillman by friendly fire. Many people, those that shot and killed him (and then tried to cover up what they did) and the commander who gave these stupid orders to split up. I want to see officers held accountable for what they did. And the female interrogation officer that took her life because she couldn't handle what was happening in Abu Graib. What about other suicides? And what about the rapes of American female soldiers in Iraq? There's plenty that is not being reported.

Comment: The Army always likes to put a good face on any deaths in it's ranks. There are accidents; accidental shootings and we must not forget 'fragging' a term came out of Viet Nam. There is a trial going on today at Ft. Bragg; a Sgt used a Claymore mine to kill two officers from New York.

Comment: Yes, there are some in the military brass that don't understand the long-term value of a efficient military, a truer history, and a better America manifesting itself by applying intelligence and getting rid of curruption. What does that have to do with denial and misleading families? It has lots to do with it, but you connect the dots.

Comment: Having spent the last two years getting to know Juan Torres. I know the U.S. Army is misleading some of the fallen 100 percent. He son was killed by assasination in Afghanistan at the Air base.

Comment: Top military brass, bound by the Administration as well as by their own internal rules and protocols, have apparently had to muzzle news such as friendly fire deaths, or deaths due to poorly planned or failed missions, in order to reduce growing dissent about the war. Americans are inevitably learning about these errors through other sources. Such deceit on the part of the military only serves to strengthen the conviction of those who understand the dishonest underpinnings of this war, and does great disservice to the soldiers and their families who are not shown even a modicum of respect and thanks when such lies are promulgated. It is shameful that they are being treated in such a manner.

Comment: You bet they are. If those weren't direct orders they'd be lying by habit by now. You think America has gone bonkers dysfunctional? Imagine what the Army is like by now. The generals don't trust their alleged leaders in suits back here, nor the uniforms that upsuck to the suits. The soldiers have HAD it with the dysfunction. Their families helped us dump those meek and weak congressfolk all over this country. And we STILL can't trust our own media to tell us about the dirty dark bleeding underside of this conflagration BushCorp has wreaked on Earth. .

Comment: I don't believe that there is a deliberate attempt to mislead anyone. The unrelenting chaos and inablility to do anything but react to whatever happens next makes it impossible for the military to adhere to any strategy. They are spread thin and not in one place long enough to come up with a plan. But I understand why people would think that way. What a shame.

Comment: Yes, yes, yes. Between Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld they have politicized the military as well as all the other agencies of our federal government. Especially the EPA, Dept of Interior and Dept of Justice. I am retired from the Army since 1996. Before that the integrity of the Army was never questioned. Now, after Tillman, the convoy that took a wrong turn and other events it is obvious to me that the Army is spinning the truth. And, they have deliberately mislead the public, the family and friends of soldiers fallen soldiers. When something happens it goes up the chain of command in minutes. As a helicopter gunship pilot in Vietnam I saw it happen. If it was really serious the Division Commander would be there in his helicopter within minutes. Now, we here that they do not have reports-which is a lie-they do not know what happened and then two to three days later we get a sanitized version of what happened. In some cases we have been deliberately lied to. Then we get a written report that has been severly redacted, thus we do not ever know for sure what happened. All the politicization of the agencies of the government has got to come to a stop. Regards to all, Jerry
