With a shrinking middle class it seems the leap to wealth and financial prosperity is like trying to jump across the Grand Canyon. I don't want to think that the redistribution of wealth is a solution to many of our social and economic problems, but the wealthiest have not voluntarily given back, what this country has given them. No household needs billions of dollars to provide financial security for their family and heirs. More of the ultra wealthy need to reinvest in this country. Real Americans needs to reclaim this country from the sociopaths that are running the government and corporations. It is mind boggling. No one seems to be blinking an eye at the profits and incomes of the very few, like it's common place. The first flag that should get notice is the extreme in itself, but noone until now is raising that red flag. I'm glad to see this on this program and hope this subject is brought up time and time again until we solve this problem. When Congressmen and Senators leave office they become lobbyist from corporations. The rich donors they received the election campaign donations from own those corporations. Nothing will change until campaigning is funded by public money. At that point, our politicians will legislate for the best interest of America and Americans. Public money funded election campaign reform and forbid politicians from being lobbyist when they leave office. This is a social problem. It is not the fault of the top tenth of a percentile. We should not assign blame to anyone. The solution to this problem is in family formation efforts. We encourage sexual abstinence until marriage. We help couples getting married to go through mentoring and preparation programs like FOCCUS. Then, finally, for those who have a child out of wedlock, we help these couples towards marriage. If there is no drug abuse or history of violence, and if the couple is romantically involved, this couple with one or more children can be helped towards a marriage in which both partners contribute financially, 100%, and not with occasional token assistance or court-ordered assistance. Family formation is a big key to fighting poverty, although such efforts are in their infancy. There is a huge learning curve ahead of us in this country in being able to effectively promote family formation. It takes couple-to-couple mentoring with equals (not patronization). I don't have internet at home or an ipod, etc. This kind of scheduling decision is especially bad for those of us who have little money and therefore don't have other options. Please keep us poorer folks in mind at your end too. (talk about income inequality!!) Meanwhile, keep up the GREAT work! We need you!! I have been drastically hurt by downsizing and will have to kiss my retirement goodbye because of the rush to protect the bottom line. Trade and economic policies are put in place that will destroy America as we know it and my frustration is even the citizens who are directly impacted by the current rush to be a corporate economy are oblivious and seem to accept the spin on the right. If we want change and have the middle class survive we must take back our country from the wealthy, revisit our tax structures which are leaning toward the wealthy, end out-of-control CEO pay which is awarded when they move or end good paying American jobs, adopt universal health care and end this illegal war and criminal administration. That is just the tip of the iceberg. Poster: Gerard Comment: I look forward to the show because I truly believe America resists it's national integrity because of the wide gap between rich and poor. We should be measured by how we take care of our most needy, not our most privileged, yet clearly it's the other way around, at least by self-impression. |
