I live in Ga. and have been taking RN Classes thru Excelsior in NY. We have recently found out that the Ga. Board of Nursing will not be accepting what we have done thru Excelsior. From what I understand, we have to get our license thru an accredited college in Ga. I have spent so much money on enrollment, books, and test, and now to find out it was all for nothing. My money is gone. I am working 2 jobs and can not leave my full time job to go to a Ga. college, because I have to have medical insurance for my family. My husband is self-employed and I have a 19 yr. old diabetic child that has to be in college to remain on my insurance. He has 2 years left in college. He will not be able to work for himself and afford insurance. If he did find an insurance company that would take him, the premiums would be so high , he would not be able to afford them. I called the Ga. Board of Nursing to see if there were any colleges in Ga. that provided weekend school in order for me to get my R.N.There are not.So I am stuck being a L.P.N. and not be able to futher my education. Then I hope he can cut through the DC double speak, have Senators and Representatives held up to clear unambiguous light. When a bill is full of insane prok or is used to hoodwink the people, he should get that on the news immediately with a Fireside Chat type of venue. He should make it clear that he will pull these things out and make the passage of crazy amendments tacked onto important bills a thing of the past. The Bailout should stop and Paulson and Bernanke need to be chastised or even censured for slipping the repeal of tax code section 382 and the other little gifts they have allowed past the Congress. People need to go to jail I think. Assets need to be seized just as they have been for homeowners who lost their homes, or got behind on their mortgages. The CEOs could privately fund their own bailout easily from the bonuses they have gotten as they tanked the country and the world economy for the last 4 years. Poster: Trudy B. Brown Comment: If I heard him correctly, Mr. Ogletree stated that the Roe v. Wade decision was 1972. In fact, it was 1973. I see this error occasionally but am surprised by it being repeated on a nationally broadcast show by someone who should know better. I think a correction is in order. Thanks. Poster: Gustavo Corral Comment: This week Democratic leaders pressured Treasury Secretary Paulson to use part of the $700B bailout bill to help the Big 3 automakers pay for hybrid car development. But is subsidizing automakers with imploding sales and massive debt the right way to spur technological innovation? To find out, I think NOW should visit some of the companies that are doing the innovation. Then it can talk to Congressional leaders to discover how the subsidized companies are chosen and what milestones were put in place. For example: the DEA and their war on drugs has put a disproportionate amount of racial minorities in private for profit prisons while government agents have repeatedly been caught importing and selling drugs without consequences (particularly cia secret rendition planes.) I think it is also important that he command the military to disestablish the Civilian Inmate Labor Program ( www.army.mil/usapa/epubs/pdf/r210_35.pdf ) because it is unnecessary for government to have this much prison capacity, and it is unwise to allow them the tools they would need to repeat Hitler's reign of terror. Obama can spread the message of world peace by coordinating with the Russian government to remove the radar and the missiles which are *supposed* to only intercept other missiles from Poland, and remove Russian nuclear weapons from Venezuela. He must also resist the temptation to stir up trouble with Pakistan and Sudan. These anti-genocide operations can at least worsen the situation, and at worst could stir trouble with Russia or China, governments which we are in no position to lecture about helping dictators. Obama could help the unions and the workers in general by ordering the IRS not to audit taxpayers who are not the richest 1%, because those were the only people the income tax was meant for when it was written. He could also help unions by slowing down on free trade agreements because allowing free trade with too many poor countries at once will overload the US economy. Like an overloaded truck on a hill, it will stall and nobody will get to prosperity. I have the highest hopes for an Obama administration, but I caution the American people against complacency. The more the people can hold Obama to his message of change, the better his administration will be seen in the history books. God forbid the American people should be so childish as to equate criticism of the president with racism, the Obama administration will be tempted by the establishment to repackage the same policy, and if he chooses to do so, the true merchants of hate will say I told you so for years to come.
