John Powers, author of SORE WINNERS (AND THE REST OF US) IN GEORGE BUSH'S AMERICA, joins ABC's Michel Martin for an analysis of the week's news.
John Powers is film critic for VOGUE and writes a fortnightly column, "On," for LA WEEKLY and THE VILLAGE VOICE. He is also critic-at-large for NPR's "Fresh Air with Terry Gross." Mr. Powers is also the international correspondent for GOURMET. Powers is also the author of SORE WINNERS (AND THE REST OF US) IN GEORGE BUSH'S AMERICA.
In 1973 John earned an interdisciplinary BA in film, philosophy and literature from Oberlin College and in 1978 he earned a Ph.D. from Stanford University in "Modern Thought and Literature." From 1978-1985 he was an Assistant Professor of English at Georgetown University; 1985-1993.
