Cato Institute: Project on Social Security Choice
On August 14, 1995, the libertarian Cato Institute launched its Project on Social Security Choice with the objective of formulating a viable blueprint allowing individuals the opportunity of owning their own retirement account. The Project has developed a market-based alternative to the current Social Security system which is outlined in detail on their site.
Century Foundation: The Social Security Network
First launched by the nonpartisan Century Foundation in 1997, the Social Security Network serves as an important resource for information and research on the Social Security program and the debate about its future. Featuring research on Social Security as well as broader issues of retirement security, the site presents analysis research, commentary, and resources to the public.
National Center for Policy Analysis
The National Center of Policy Analysis (NCPA) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan public policy research organization, established in 1983. The NCPA's goal is to develop and promote private alternatives to government regulation and control, solving problems by relying on the strength of the competitive, entrepreneurial private sector. One of NCPA's top issues is Social Security. The site presents problems in the current system, reform issues and principles, current reform proposals, and international examples.

President's Commission to Strengthen Social Security
On May 2, 2001 President Bush announced establishment of a bipartisan, 16-member Commission "to study and report specific recommendations to preserve Social Security for seniors while building wealth for younger Americans." The Commission was asked to make recommendations to modernize and restore fiscal soundness to Social Security. Reports and public hearing records are available on the site.
Seniors Coalition
The Senior Coalition positions itself as "the responsible" alternative to the American Association of Retired People. It is a non-profit, 501c(4), non-partisan, education and issue advocacy organization that represents the interests and concerns of America's senior citizens at both the state and federal levels. The mission of the Coalition is to protect the quality of life and economic well-being that older Americans have earned while supporting common sense solutions to the challenges of the future.
