The debate over the new Medicare legislation and Social Security changes touches on emerging issues in American demographics — the aging of the Baby Boom generation and the cost of health care. According the Census Bureau estimates, at least half of the states will have senior populations that are at or over 20 percent of their total population by the year 2025. In addition, the U.S. population of under 65-year-olds that are uninsured continues to grow.
