Amber on Craig's Army career (Craig was a multi-media illustrator): You know when Craig first started researching possible career options [he wanted to be where] he could be part of a large organization that was working in human interest. I was completely shocked when he came home with information on the military and enlisting in the Army.
And at first I thought, this doesn't seem like you at all. I don't know that you would be happy with this and he was so excited. He said "Amber, I think this is a perfect opportunity to use my talents in a way that's part of a bigger picture. . ." I can do graphic design and I can also if I do well in my military training I can get a position in an office where I can communicate with these leaders and find out how the world's operating. . ."
He would come home and we would have these intense conversations about what we can do in the future to bring more young people, young educated people, who are interested in the world and that are motivated, . . . how can we get them into the military?
Amber on Craig's lasting impact as a father:
In those moments when I think wow, I didn't teach her (baby Charlotte) that, I know that Craig had. And that he left a great impression on on both the children.
And it's beautiful to see them reacting to something in a way that . . . they've learned from their dad. And it's beautiful to see those things continue.
