Captain Kerr is the Vice President of Ocean Alliance and has worked with whales since 1984. In 1987, he served as a research assistant to Dr. Payne in Argentina, assisting with the development of new benign methods for the study of Right whales.
He captained the Institute's first research vessel Siben and now Odyssey on international expeditions off the coasts of North, Central and South America since 1988.
Captain Kerr has also been involved with training biologists in new research techniques including implementing a new use of sonar equipment for the tracking of whales during their dives and the first electrocardiogram and satellite tagging of Sperm whales. Iain has also developed WHALECAM and is the driving force behind the Voyage of the Odyssey Program.
