Josh Jones joined the Odyssey crew as a volunteer in the Fall of 1996 after meeting the boat in Southeast Alaska, where he was a captain of charter fishing and wildlife watching boats in the remote waters of Chatham Strait.

Josh also taught outdoor natural science education at the Woodleaf Outdoor School in Northern California, a program designed to teach students ecology and promote environmental awareness.

A licensed captain, he has overseen the preparation of the boat for the Voyage of the Odyssey and has led expeditions to the Sea of Cortez and Galapagos.
