Kim Gruetzmacher
Science Intern - Maldives
Deckhand - Australia, Seychelles
Home: Bochum, Germany
This is Kim's third trip to the Odyssey, having previously joined the boat in Australia and the Seychelles.
While her previous deckhand duties involved scrubbing the boat from top to bottom, this time she returns to try her hand as science intern.
Before Odyssey, Kim worked as a wrangler and guide at a working cattle/guest ranch in Wyoming, USA over a period of three years. She was responsible for up to 60 horses, rounding up cattle and general ranch duties. She enjoys every opportunity to work closely with different animals.
After leaving the Odyssey in Australia, Kim attended Ludwig Maximilians University Medical School in Munich, returning to the Odyssey in her first semester break.
After almost two years of med school Kim got the chance to pursue her passion for animals as she was accepted to Ludwig Maximilians University Vet School and is now studying to become a veterinarian with the goal of treating and researching wild animals.
Her appreciation and passion for all wildlife, both terrestrial and marine, compelled her to rejoin the Odyssey to make a conscientious effort to offer her support in the conservation of our oceans and their inhabitants.
