A 1909 Santa Fe brochure promised visitors, "On the upper shelf repose heads of the deer, elk, moose, mountain sheep, and buffalo, mingling with curiously shaped, and gaudily-tinted Indian jars from the Southwest pueblos." The brochure then went on to avow, "Nothing cheap nor tawdry is tolerated."
