The First Car Arrives

In 1902, the manufacturer of Toledo steam carriages reported, "Oliver Lippincott, the Los Angeles artist, in his 'Toledo' climbed 'Knob Hill.'" This is the oldest documented use of a car in Grand Canyon. Odds are good it was the very same Oliver Lippincott who drove one of the first 'locomobiles' into Yosemite in 1900.
