Comments from Morgan Laubach and Susan Johson:
My name is Morgan Laubach and I am an anthropology and history major and the University of Pittsburgh. Watching your show has not only engaged my brain, sparked my curiosity, and, to be honest, made me giddy with the "history-nerd factor", as my family calls it, but it has also shown me the variety of careers available to someone in the history field.
Thank you!
Morgan Laubach
My husband and I went to Sea Island, GA to attend a wedding this past summer.
While we knew that my husband's grandfather moved to Brunswick back in 1948, we had no other information about him or Edith, his 2nd wife.
So we decided to play history detectives.
After several disappointing visits to the area cemeteries, we were referred to the Health Department where we purchased a death certificate. We were given directions to the memorial garden and found their markers.
Grandpa was born in 1877 and was 71 when they moved to Brunswick to open the Brunswick Dress Mfg. Co. He passed in 1973, a year before my husband and I married.
Edith was born in 1916- and there was no passing date on the marker. I looked in the local phone book and there she is-living in the same house she and Meyer bought in 1948!
We had a wonderful lunch, and now we have a great-grandmother in the family. I am
still in shock. Not only is great-grandmother alive, she is celebrating her
92nd birthday on Jan 14th- the same day my son was born. Robert will be 21
and celebrating his big birthday with a 92 year old sweetheart!
How about that for a story!

Dear Detectives,
After watching History Detectives for the first time last summer on KETC here in St. Louis, I have grown to like the show more and more. A TV show that's both entertaining and informative (not to mention flat out cool) is pretty rare, and that's why History Detectives is not only my favorite PBS show, but my favorite TV show period. Kudos not only to the detectives, but everyone else who does the nitty-gritty research that makes the show so amazing. Bravo!
If at all possible, I would encourage you to pursue airing your season during the more conventional TV season of fall/winter/spring. No need to hide one of PBS's best shows away in a short summer schedule!
In short, thanks for putting together such a great show, and keep up the good work!
Sincerely,
Brandon Sharp

Dear Detectives,
I just watched the episode about Ernie Pyle's typewriter (on station KRCB in Sonoma County, California), and just had to write to thank you for airing this story.
