In the 36 years since Loaves & Fishes first served a couple of dozen meals to seniors, it has grown to produce 4000 meals five days a week through its Meal Centers and Meals-on-Wheels program. At the heart of the organization are its volunteers; every day 350 of them help prepare and deliver meals. For many homebound seniors, the volunteer is the only person they’ll see on an average day.
