Recognizing the rapid disappearance of this slice of Chinese Americana, photographer Rick Wong, whose family owned a Seattle chop suey restaurant, has been documenting its distinctive gaudy neon signage throughout the country for more than 15 years. “I wanted to capture this because they’re like restaurants my dad had, and I knew they would be gone, like the ’50s diners,” Wong says. |
