The National Book Festival, where book lovers gather to meet writers, poets and illustrators, takes place this weekend in Washington D.C. Kids will enjoy crafts, performances, and meeting their favorite authors and characters. PBS KIDS will be there with Curious George, The Cat in the Hat, Daniel Tiger, Super Why, Princess Presto, and WordGirl! Peg + Cat, the new series premiering October 7th, will make its debut at the festival.

In honor of this amazing event, make beautiful bookmarks that will inspire your little readers! We’ve chosen a variety of bookmarks from around the web that will appeal to different ages and interests. Your animal lover will have a blast making the Popsicle Stick Animal Bookmarks. Kids can also get creative making the Monster Corner bookmarks which they can modify to make animals. We also have printable bookmarks that preschoolers can cut to work on their scissor skills. The Nature and Stained Glass Bookmarks are also great sensory activities, as kids gather and manipulate items from nature and rip paper to resemble stained glass.

We hope you enjoy making and using these bookmarks! Click on the images to go to the tutorials.
