art history for kids Art History is one of my passions and I love getting my kids into it to. My son who is seven might not be interested in the Renaissance and how it changed the art world but he is totally into any scavenger hunt. This activity turns art into a hunt and the learning happens along the way.

What You Will Need

art history for kids

  • art history books
  • paper
  • a jar
  • markers

How to Set Up The Activity

art history
  • Start by cutting the paper into strips.
  • Next flip through the book alone and writing down items for your child to find in the pages on the strips of paper.
  • Pop the strips into the jar. Decorate the jar is you see fit.

Play

art history painting hunt
  • Pop the strips into the pages like bookmarks once the item is found.

I tried to balance the iconic paintings with ones that don’t get as much attention. Encourage your child to learn more about the painting and artists. If your child is into this activity hand them a book and strips of paper and have them create a jar full of tasks just for you!
