The next step is to play! I think it’s a great strategy to have your child serve you. You can model the behavior that you want to see from them. Saying please and thank you to start with but maybe you want to model taking your plate to the sink, or asking to be excused before getting up. Focus on what your child needs help learning. Dinner is a terrible time to learn anything for most young children. They are cranky, hungry, mad that you aren’t serving chicken nuggets. They are not ready to learn. When they are playing they are; so dust off that tea set and practice, I mean, play!
