Hacker’s up to no good in R-Fair City and the kids have to analyze games of chance to stop him.

For Real segment: Bianca goes on a quest to find out if flipping a coin really is a fair way to make a decision.

Topics: Using Data: Probability & Chance

Episode 104: Snow Day to Be Exact

The kids and Digit use estimation to save Solaria, a sunny vacation spot, from freezing over forever.

For Real segment: Harry uses speed and distance to estimate the time it will take to get to the theater window before the ticket booth closes.

Has Hacker claimed more land in Sensible Flats than he’s allowed? The kids use a special way to measure area to find out.

For Real segment: Bianca measures the floor area with sleeping bags to find out how many friends she can invite to sleepover.

Learning Goals

To find the area of an object, your child can count how many squares fit on it. But there’s an easier way! Measure an object’s dimensions, and she can use mathematics to calculate its area.

Topics: Measurement: Area

Episode 106: Zeus on the Loose

Our favorite team learns about fractions in this fun cyberadventure set in ancient Greece.

For Real segment: Harry uses fractions to divide his date’s lemonade-for-two between eight uninvited people.

The kids learn about different kinds of symmetry to get back the stolen Symmetrizer and stop Hacker.

For Real segment: Harry uses symmetry to make a cake with one side a perfect mirror image of the other.

Learning Goals

Symmetries are secret patterns your child can find hidden within many objects that create balance, order, and a pleasing regularity in the world around us.

Topics: Geometry: Symmetry

Episode 111: A Day at the Spa

Our heroes learn how lists, tables and diagrams can help them manage too many different ways to combine things.

For Real segment: Harry combines a few basic sandwich ingredients to make many different kinds of sandwiches.

Learning Goals

Is your child overwhelmed by choices?  Lists, tables and tree diagrams can help her master the combinations.

Topics: Problem Solving, Using Data: Combinations

Episode 112: Of All the Luck

The CyberSquad goes to the Northern Frontier where they use logic and Venn diagrams to rescue the Lucky Charms.

For Real segment: Bianca uses a Venn diagram to figure out how to order a pizza with toppings arranged so anchovies are not near her pieces.

Learning Goals

When your child has to choose from a confusing mix of possibilities, he can use logic – a set of tools for thinking clearly – to picture and refine his choices so he can get exactly what he wants.

Topics: Problem Solving: Logic

Episode 113: Eureeka

The kids and Digit make 2-dimensional geometrical patterns rise up into 3-dimensional shapes to solve the mystery of Professor Archimedes’ disappearance.

For Real segment: Harry transforms flat, 2-dimensional pieces of cardboard into a 3-dimensional, two-story dollhouse  for his sister’s birthday.

Learning Goals

When your child follows simple rules to make flat geometrical shapes, and join them together, she can discover new shapes that, instead of staying flat, rise up to make three-dimensional objects!

Topics: Science & Engineering, Geometry: 2D & 3D

Episode 114: Cool It

Measuring liquid volume becomes more difficult when the kids and Digit are caught without measuring tools and have to replace Motherboard’s cryoxide before she overheats!

For Real segment: Bianca has to feed twins the same amount of formula, but the bottles are different shapes so she has to figure out which hold the same amount.

Learning Goals

Just because one container appears ‘bigger’ to the eye doesn’t mean it holds more liquid than another. A container’s volume depends on all its dimensions.

Topics: Measurement: Liquid Volume

Episode 115: Find Those Gleamers!

The CyberSquad has to figure out unknown numbers in equations so they can save Topsy Turvy Island from turning inside out.

For Real segment: Harry figures out how he can create a totally new look for just $100 as he shops for a new jacket and pair of pants.

Learning Goals

When your child uses a letter to stand in for a number that repeats or changes in a problem, she can simplify the arithmetic and make the problem easier to solve.

Topics: Pre-Algebra

Episode 116: Codename: Icky

Our heroes invent secret codes to send messages so Hacker can’t figure out their plans to save Icky, the underwater cyber-slug.

For Real segment: Julio and Harry swap coded messages, but when Harry takes a shortcut decoding an invitation from Julio, he ends up in trouble!

Learning Goals

Your child can use a code (a communication system that substitutes one thing for another) to send top secret messages as long as the code has an adjustable rule that can be reversed to read the message.

Topics: Pre-Algebra: Codes

Episode 117: Return to Sensible Flats

The CyberSquad uses line graphs to solve the mystery of why the reservoir in Sensible Flats has suddenly gone dry.

For Real segment: Harry uses a line graph to predict that he can make the 20-mile trip on his unicycle to visit his grandmother before dark.

Learning Goals

Your child can use a line graph to tell a story about how things change, and to make predictions.

Topics: Science & Engineering, Using Data: Line Graphs

Topics: Using Numbers: Multiplication

Episode 120: Trading Places

Stranded on Nowhere with no money to buy parts to fix the cybercoupe, the CyberSquad trades, barters, and invents a new monetary system with the help of stale donuts.

For Real segment: Bianca finds a gold coin and takes it to a coin expert where she learns about the history of money and the true value of her coin.

Learning Goals

Instead of trading what he has for what he wants, your child can make it easier to buy and sell by creating a system of money where he exchanges goods for tokens of different fixed values.

Topics: Problem Solving, Using Numbers, Money: Monetary Systems

Episode 121: Less Than Zero

The kids and Digit learn about negative numbers in their latest attempt to rescue Dr. Marbles.

For Real segment: During an ice skating competition, Harry’s performance is so poor his score is a negative number!

Learning Goals

Numbers don’t have to stop at zero! Negative numbers — numbers that are less than zero — can extend the range of what your child can measure on a scale and give her the ability to compare numbers using direction as well as amount.

Topics: Using Numbers: Negative Numbers

Episode 122: Model Behavior

Our favorite heroes return to Happily Ever After and discover how creating a model of a problem can help solve it faster.

For Real segment: Bianca goes on a model spacecraft and tries to take over the crew members’ responsibilities.

Learning Goals

Topics: Measurement: Linear Measurement

Episode 124: Size Me Up

Trapped first in a land of giants, then in a land of little people, the kids and Digit learn how to scale smaller, then larger, the objects they need to escape.

For Real segment: Bianca has to figure out how to scale up a photo of a very important person to make a life-size copy.

Learning Goals

Your child can create an exact likeness of something – though one that is a different size – by multiplying the size of every part of his original by the same number.

Topics: Pre-Algebra, Science & Engineering: Scale & Size

Episode 125: A Battle of Equals

The CyberSquad uses balance scales to solve equations and put a stop to Hacker’s latest scheme.

For Real segment: Bianca uses unpopped popcorn in a recipe instead of popped popcorn, then uses equations to correct her mistake.

Learning Goals

Like a scale in balance, both sides of an equation must have the same value, and your child can use this property of equality to find the value of an unknown.

Topics: Pre-Algebra: Balancing Equations

Episode 126: Out of Sync

The kids and Digit have to find the missing beat in the musical pattern that will help them save the Music of the Spheres.

For Real segment: Harry learns how to make rhythmic patterns while tapdancing and daydreams about making music with the beautiful teacher.
