Behind The Scenes

Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood brings together a group of today’s leading creators of children’s media and educational technology.

The series was developed by The Fred Rogers Company, founded by Fred Rogers in 1971 as the non-profit producer of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. In the years that followed, the company not only created hundreds of episodes of this much-loved program, but also extended Fred’s values and approach to other initiatives promoting children’s social, emotional, and behavioral health and supporting parents, caregivers, teachers and other professionals in their work with children. The company continues to build on Fred’s legacy, engaging new generations of children and families with his timeless wisdom. For more information, visit us at

Kevin Morrison, Executive Producer, joined the company in 2006 as Chief Operating Officer, bringing with him a lifetime of experience in television production. Another Executive Producer, and our creative production partner is Angela Santomero, co-founder of Out of the Blue Enterprises and the creative force behind Blue’s Clues and the hit PBS KIDS series Super Why! Angela, who grew up watching Mister Rogers, has a Master’s degree in Child Development Psychology from Columbia University, and lives in New York with her husband Greg and two daughters.

In addition to its partners at Out of the Blue, The Fred Rogers Company is joined by 9 Story Entertainment, bringing a talented and award-winning animation team led by Vince Commisso to the production, and its Pittsburgh neighbor and top interactive game designer Schell Games, which created the Daniel Tigers’ Neighborhood PBSKids site

Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood builds on the work of one of PBS’ most respected pioneers, Fred Rogers,” said Lesli Rotenberg, Senior Vice President, Children’s Media, PBS.  “Just as Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood revolutionized the use of television for early learning, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood breaks new ground, as a multiplatform media property with a unique approach to harnessing the power of media to meet the needs of today’s children.  This new series will leverage media across platforms to help a new generation of kids build critical life skills like self-control, patience, persistence and resilience.”
