Don’t let the idea overwhelm you. A few containers and soil in a sunny spot will do.

  • Alissa

Woo hoo! We have a TON of plastic bags ready to recycle – maybe we’ll be recycling them into these instead! Thanks for the idea.

  • Paola

Love this! Definitely a project my daughter would love to do!  Thanks for the tips.

  • PlayDrMom

Perfect!  What a fun idea!  I can’t wait to try it out with my kiddos!

  • Roseanne

we made three like this about
two months ago.. they have lasted well … even survived several
storms! we used plain supermarket bags which we then drew on with
permanent markers before slicing them up.

  • Pammy Pam

this activity is perfect for little hands!

  • Terri

I love this! We’re always a fan of making things from recycled materials. Usually you can’t hang kid-made windsocks outside, but this one you can! Love, love that!

  • Julia Deering

Great idea! We’ll definitely be trying this.

  • Kristen @ Busy Kids Happy Mom

Gosh this is great!  I’d love to try it on one of these nice spring days!

  • smallfriendly

We heart Upcycled projects and love the idea of upcycling plastic bags

  • Rebekah Patel

We made a windsock last year, but out of paper, so it didn’t last long.  I love this idea since it is more durable and it’s made out of upcycled materials!

  • Dinosaursandoctopuses

Fantastic idea! I really love that it’s recycled and the fact that it’s waterproof makes it perfect. Great springtime activity!

  • Sherry Aikens

such a cute Idea!  I love the idea of doing this while at the camper

  • Teach Preschool

Love the simplicity of this idea!

  • Rashmie | Mommy Labs

I LOVE this idea! No matter how hard I try to not use plastic bags, we end up having a few in our home. Upcycling those into this fun project will be a great use.

  • mansi shankar

Remind me of my childhood. We use to tie string onto both handles of a simple plastic carry bag and fly them as kites on windy days. Great Idea.

  • Chrissy @ The Outlaw Mom Blog

Cool idea!  I love that it’s waterproof.  We’ve made ones out of construction paper, but they wouldn’t hold up in the weather we’ve been having lately.  I have all of the materials on hand, so we’ll be making one of these this month!

  • Charlotte @ Make, Do & Friend

What a great idea! We live in the UK and are known for our wet Summers so this is perfect. Love that you are upcycling stuff I’d normally throw away too!

  • Ali @ At home with Ali

What a great  idea. I love using materials that I already have too!

  • Jdaniel4smom

What a wonderful way to reuse bags!

  • Melinda

cute but we never have soda bottles, I’ll try with a milk jug, it’ll be squarish but still look good

  • Amie

Thanks for this great idea, I made these with my little ones on Friday afternoon and we spent ages watched them in the wind.  The colourful bags we have used have helped cheer up the higher parts of our garden too and our front door is now welcoming with them there too!
