My kids got to have lots of time for free play, when they were little. Besides being good for them, it was fun to watch, from the sidelines.  I did see them practicing everyday skills, too, as part of the play, like disciplining the characters in their play, when the characters misbehaved as the children themselves sometimes did.

If you love nature, consider growing a pet TickleMe Plant in the classroom. It is a great way or playing and learning at the same time. The TickleMe Plant is the famous plant that moves and closes its leaves when Tickled!
