Today’s submission comes from Kris Irvin: “My best friend and I dressed up as the aliens from Sesame Street back in 2006 for Halloween. She sewed the costumes herself. They were epic. The only problem was, the fur from the fabric got EVERYWHERE (including in our eyes!) still, they were definitely the best Halloween costumes ever.”

Timothy Goes to School was a cartoon series based on the books by Rosemary Wells. It featured a young raccoon, Timothy, who attended a fictional primary school.

Set in Washington, DC in the early 1980s, Powerhouse focused on the adventures of a racially and ethnically diverse group of six teenagers and young adults from the inner city, based at a community center founded by a woman named Brenda Gaines, who inherited the location from her family. The basic theme of the series is that every person is a source of creativity and power. “We all have a power house deep down inside,” as one line said in the show’s theme song.

Zoobilee Zoo was an Emmy Award-winning children’s television series featuring costumed performers dressed as animal characters. Generally the plot of each episode consists of Zoobles encountering difficulties usually common to young children and then learning a moral lesson about dealing with such problems, such as being apprehensive of going to a doctor or learning to appreciate others.

Theodore Tugboat was a Canadian children’s television series about a tugboat named Theodore who lives in the Big Harbour with all of his friends. The show ran from 1993-2001 and dealt with life learning issues portrayed by the tugs or other ships in the harbour.

Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego? is an American children’s television game show based on the Carmen Sandiego computer game. The program aired on PBS from 1991 until 1995. Greg Lee hosted the program in the role of “The ACME Special Agent in charge of training new recruits.” He was joined by Lynne Thigpen as “The Chief” and acapella performing group Rockapella, who served as the show’s in-house band and comedy troupe.

Seven Little Monsters was part of the PBS Kids Bookworm Bunch from 2000 to 2002. It was about a family of seven monsters and their mother. The series was created by Maurice Sendak and based on his book. Each monster is named after a different number from 1 to 7, and each has unique physical characteristics.

Sagwa, the Chinese Siamese Cat, aired on PBS KIDS in the early 2000s. Set c. 1900 during the Qing Dynasty, Sagwa has fun in her day-to-day life while learning and teaching valuable life lessons.
