Each month Fizzy's Lunch Lab will provide you with fun and kid-friendly activity packs to go along with that month's Lunch Lab topic. Our goal is to entertain and educate families about the importance of good nutrition, a balanced diet, and physical activity.
Family Activities Month 1: Whole Grains
This activity focuses on helping kids identify whole grains and fiber on food labels. Your child searches for a food label on a food package in your home and then fills out the Food Label Worksheet.
Family Activities Month 2: Balanced Meals
This activity focuses on helping kids identify the importance of eating a balanced breakfast. Using the Pyramid Breakfast Challenge, you and your child will eat a healthy balanced breakfast for a week.
Family Activities Month 3: Veggies
This activity focuses on helping kids locate different types of veggies while visiting a supermarket or farmer's market.
Family Activities Month 4: Fruits
This activity focuses on helping kids to make smarter choices when "going out" for dinner.
Family Activities Month 5: Hydration
This activity focuses on helping kids understand the importance of hydration, even in nature.
Family Activities Month 6: Family Meals
This activity focuses on helping kids learn correct portion sizes and the importance of family time together.
Family Activities Month 7: Fruits
This activity will encourage kids to think about and eat more fruits and vegetables.
Family Activities Month 8: Protein
This activity focuses on helping kids learn about protein. This activity contains facts about lean protein, heart health, and vegetable protein.
Family Activities Month 9: Exercise
This activity focuses on helping kids learn the importance of daily exercise by keeping a chart of physical activity.
Family Activities Month 10: Carbs & Sugars
This activity focuses on helping kids learn the differences between carbohydrates by inspecting the cereal aisle in the grocery store and compare food labels.
